INNOVATION
FINALIST - BAG IT DON'T BIN IT: Bag It Don't Bin It is a new eco-business, producing cotton and jute branded shopping bags.
The aim is to provide businesses and organisations with an environmentally-friendly packaging solution which promotes their brand at a minimal cost.
Recent statistics reveal that 13 billion plastic bags are used by consumers in the UK each year, with retailers spending between £64-£80million each year providing them for customers.
Co-directors Andrew O'Hara and Julia Gash oversee small scale production in England and large scale in socially compliant factories in India with new technology, including the use of webcams, enabling them to work closely with their overseas partners.
Julia was also invited to speak on behalf of Bag It Don't Bin It at the recent Liberal Democrat conference in Brighton, during a debate on excessive packaging.
