Saving the environment has become one of the top priorities of, not only the Member States of the EU, but also of governments around the world. With modern science, between upgrades and new gadgets, there has been a vast amount of breakthroughs that now enable you, as an individual, to help the environment through both what you buy and what you throw away. So check out these top five simple ways of helping the environment today!
1: The Reusable Bag
Many people discard the idea of using reusable bags, such as the “bag for life” and the woven bags. However, did you know that we, as a planet, use over 500 billion bags a year? The majority of which are non-recyclable and take hundreds of years to decompose back into the earth. So pass on the message to your friends and family and get yourself a bag for life today.
2: The Car Journey
Car fumes account for over 20% of all toxic emissions today and yet many of us are still content with using our car for small trips to the local corner shop rather than walking. Understandably time is precious, however, walking has been proven to not only improve fitness, but also lower cholesterol, increase dopamine levels (making you happier) and has even been found to reduce stress! Let’s not forget that you will also be saving money, 
so next time you need some milk think about the benefits of walking before you sit in your car.
3: Use a Car Wash?
Did you know that a car wash uses less than half of the amount of water that we use when we actually decide to do it ourselves? In truth we use around 80 – 140 gallons of water when a car wash uses only 45, meaning that if you’re looking to wash your car this summer make sure you either a) take it to a car wash or b) if possible, park it on your lawn to maximise your water usage (two birds, one stone).
4: Recycle/Resell Your Old Computer Parts
We are now in the electronic age and with it comes one of our most used items… the computer (and laptop). When our computers breakdown and they cannot be repaired (or costs too much to repair) many of us decide to simply throw it in the skip. However, with a quick search online you can now find many companies that will pay for your laptop or computer parts, they will also erase all data so that your data is only known by you. So in full you not only get money for what you would throw out, but you will also be recycling your old electronics, which helps the environment.
5: Energy Saving Light Bulbs
Energy saving light bulbs may be more expensive than others however, they have a longer life, up to as much a 10 times longer (some even boast 10 years) this not only saves you money by not needing to buy new ones, but also saves you money on your electricity bill.
Now these are just some small, quick tips that you can implement quickly there are, as you may have guessed, a million other ways you can help. Other such ways include electric, water and gas usage monitors, solar panels, taking cloths to the charity shop and many more methods

We recently made some Eco-Messenger Bags for some lovely peddle pushing Pompeys at their Love Your Bike Event. They wanted to encourage Portsmouth and Southsea as a cycle city, with
new routes, funding for safety and ride to work schemes. We made them a branded Eco-Messenger (Bike Friendly) Bag, to help strengthen their good cause. They, in return, sent us some lovely photos showing their bags being put to good use. They had a nice, sunny day for it!

Bag It Don't Bin It has appointed Matt Hattersley to support our Sales Team. He'll be the first point of contact for clients at Bag It Don't Bin It and is also our dedicated Environmental Champion. He will ensure that our business is fully engaged on good environmental principles and procedures. As Matt has just completed a degree in Bio-Medical Science he will also be our First Aider!

Our Company Director, Julia Gash, caught up with Reggae Reggae Sauce inventor, Levi Roots, at a Food Festival this week. He loved the "I Love Reggae Reggae" Eco-Bag we made for him just about as much as we love his sauce!
